I bought this tava from a local store. Though its gauge is thick and initially it made good dosas, the coating started to come off and it lost its nonstick property within just one year of limited use (once in two weeks for family of two) and this despite very careful handling and cleaning. It seemed like this was happening just due to the heat from the flame during cooking process and nothing else. I took it back to the store. The store keeper reluctantly offered to send it to the company for re-coating. I was charged for transportation cost! But subsequently, within one year it is back to the same state, pretty much useless. What is the use of using thick metal underneath if the nonstick coating is of such poor quality! Did not expect this from Hawkins! Now I am left with a 1.25 kg of useless scrap metal!
