Each pressure cooker made by Hawkins features an inside fitting lid. This design is inherently safer than conventional pressure cookers. To open any Hawkins cooker, you have to first lower the lid slightly into the body of the cooker; and that cannot be done until the steam pressure inside the cooker falls to a safe level. Thus Hawkins pressure cookers are pressure-locked for safety - like a jetliner door!

I bought wide model of 3 litre capacity stainless steel. Its enough for family of 3-4 people.Pros: Wide design very good for biryani and pulao, easy to cook inside cooker for sambhar or khichdiSeperator given and easy for dhokla and plate idli.Cons: Nothing too bad but you got to scrub it nicely everytime else you will get brown color inside and outside the botton part of cooker. Handle Rubber is too lose and comes out too many times when not in use.A must buy for daily and long lasting use. I have been using another 5 litre cooker from 8 yrs from Hawkins (aluminium one) and its still in use.
