Each pressure cooker made by Hawkins features an inside fitting lid. This design is inherently safer than conventional pressure cookers. To open any Hawkins cooker, you have to first lower the lid slightly into the body of the cooker; and that cannot be done until the steam pressure inside the cooker falls to a safe level. Thus Hawkins pressure cookers are pressure-locked for safety - like a jetliner door!

Quality of the product is good and useful for daily use, particularly specific purpose like preparation of millet, etc. But, there is an issue, two three occasion it did not work well, due to leakage through side, did not whistle and food material burnt. So, we request you to look into the same for any possible defect remained before delivery.

Steam keeps escaping from lid sides from day 1. Opened the cooker and removed and again put the gasket. When cooking rice the steam escapes in the beginning and then stops suddenly, I guess because the internal pressure generated reaches a level it pushes the body and lid closed or some such. I have an old 2 litre Hawkins aluminium cooker , no such issues with that. Very disappointed with this new steel cooker. Bakwaas.

Whistle is not full, and repeating more than once in 1 minute! I will have to return this. It does not give idea of cooked food inside. It's whistle is loose or there is some design failure.
