Each pressure cooker made by Hawkins features an inside fitting lid. This design is inherently safer than conventional pressure cookers. To open any Hawkins cooker, you have to first lower the lid slightly into the body of the cooker; and that cannot be done until the steam pressure inside the cooker falls to a safe level. Thus Hawkins pressure cookers are pressure-locked for safety - like a jetliner door!

Cooker is good... The only problem is getting used to. No whistles so you have to guess whether the food is cooked or not based on time. It can be difficult to track if you are doing multiple tasks in kitchen.

Hawkins should be ashamed of itself for projecting Futura as it's flagship series. It is a terribly ill-designed product and its a shame I can not rate it at ZERO stars or even lesser.Being an NRI, I bought it to be taken and used overseas, delivery came in time. As I had to take it abroad, there was no question of opening it. I took it outsode India and lo and behold! At crucial points at handle, the components had chipped off and broken! With great difficulty I got it repaired by an expert local repairer and after few days, the handle itself is shaking and threatening to come off. Needless to say, if it's lid falls off accidentally, the WHISTLE bit can break off and that would be end of this cooker any way!It is terribly fragile piece of garbage.Any sensible buyer MUST STAY AWAY.....unless...you simply do not have to move it here and there in kitchen and this fragile Princess would more or less remain stationed at one place.DO NOT BUY!!!

Looks nice. However, the cooker is very heavy and this is expected as it is stainless steel.But the handles must be equally sturdy to withstand the heavy weight. The handles are of low quality plastic
