Each pressure cooker made by Hawkins features an inside fitting lid. This design is inherently safer than conventional pressure cookers. To open any Hawkins cooker, you have to first lower the lid slightly into the body of the cooker; and that cannot be done until the steam pressure inside the cooker falls to a safe level. Thus Hawkins pressure cookers are pressure-locked for safety - like a jetliner door!

The cooker is fantastic.No argument there.The handle is so delicate that the cooker fell ,empty,from stove top to kitchen counter top,a height of 6 inches maybe and the handle broke at the point where it attaches to the cooker body.I did a wise thing and ordered TWO handles from Silkrute.

The lock failed after using it twice. 5 years of warranty is a joke. Had to visit the service center, then had to wait for 5 days then got the Lock replaced. Had to pay 50₹ there. What is the warranty for?

Disadvantages
Using it for more than 2-3 years, you can easily found the difference in taste of pulses and other items which are cooked in this cooker compared to normal cooker, it's really worth to spend money in this. I was unlucky to get a faulty one which was cutting the cooker ring, need to struggle in getting it changed.
