Each pressure cooker made by Hawkins features an inside fitting lid. This design is inherently safer than conventional pressure cookers. To open any Hawkins cooker, you have to first lower the lid slightly into the body of the cooker; and that cannot be done until the steam pressure inside the cooker falls to a safe level. Thus Hawkins pressure cookers are pressure-locked for safety - like a jetliner door!

Good cooker. The material looks sturdy and stylish in design. While buying, be mindful that this cooker does not make whistling sounds like a conventional pressure cooker. The technology is new and improved and might take a bit of getting used to.In order to cook multiple dishes, we also bought Hawkins anodised pressure cooker separator set. It fits perfectly and is working well.The cons: The cooking manual is not user friendly. Although it is not a dealbreaker.Note to seller: when the package arrived, there were scratches on the plastic part of the lid.
