Each pressure cooker made by Hawkins features an inside fitting lid. This design is inherently safer than conventional pressure cookers. To open any Hawkins cooker, you have to first lower the lid slightly into the body of the cooker; and that cannot be done until the steam pressure inside the cooker falls to a safe level. Thus Hawkins pressure cookers are pressure-locked for safety - like a jetliner door!

Writing this review after about 2 months of use. Seems worst ever product from Hawkins. Very very heavy, managing becomes tough. Washing is also pain as this is heavy than usual urencil. Cover handle material broke with one month of use. Complete useless product

I have ordered this cooker twice, first I got used non-induction compatible cooker. There was no replacement so returned. Then ordered again, this time got the right cooker but the handle was in pieces. This also had no replacement option. So again I returned. The cooker looks classy but major issues with the bakelite handle. It is prone to break.
