I have been weeding out all plastics for food storage as well as cooking (Microwave) - for both health and environmetal reasons - and was looking for 100% organic muslin bags for storing vegetables in the refrigerator. So grabbed these bags instantly when I came across.These bags are well-stitched and hemmed on all three sides with adequate length of draw-string on top.After examining these bags, I was happy with the quality and decided to order two more sets but out of stock with amazon and so ordered them from another site selling green products.(Now these are back in stock with amazon.) They are easy to pull from the fridge and they promote both high humidity and air flow. They safely absorb excess moisture and allow it to slowly evaporate. They can be washed and reused and therefore hygeinic.Vegetables stay fresh longest and best when washed to remove dirt and bacteria, fungi and yeast and then stored in damp fabric in a cold refrigerator. As long as the fabric is even a little damp, it keeps the humidity high but allows the ethylene gas to escape. This vastly lengthens the time vegetables stay crisp and edible.So go for it and banish plastic bags.The one thing I don't like: These bags are printed all over. Though the ink used may be green ink - made from soy/vegetable based dyes with low Volatile Organic Compounds released -, why even that? The manufacturer Clean Planet has stitched a tag bearing the name Ecoveggie and his web site name and that would have been more than sufficient branding.Why has he made it dirty all over with unwanted printing? One star less.
