Got the Kashmiri saffron for Rs.475. The price is on the higher side for Kashmiri saffron as usually Afghani saffrons are expensive as they are richer. We have used different types of Kesar and Afghani variety (grown in India) was the best but did try this Kashmiri variety.?? UPDATE: I bought this twice, the first time it was good but the next one pathetic. Looks like when the product was introduced the Kesar was given with top quality and later using low quality kesar.?? IMPORTANT: Below review was done for the product i bought first very long back. ??Quality Checks============>> Grade: Kesar thread should not be broken, this product had long threads and weren't breaking. All the Saffron Stigmas were long and not even 1 broken.>> Color: The color was just perfect, dark red with slight yellow tint at the bottom. Adulterated ones will have the same color from top to bottom. This one was looking natural.>> Purity: Took 3 saffron and added in cold water and there was no immediate discoloration or water didn't turn yellow quickly. It took almost 20-30 minutes to give away it full color. Adulterated ones will quickly turn water to yellow.>> Smell: Next is the smell. Even after 2 years pure saffron should have the smell and should not loose. The first time i got a 10 month old packaging had excellent strong aroma and hasn't faded. But the next batch i received didn't have much aroma.Comparison with other brands------------------------------------I have another brand of saffron at home and i compared that with Upakarma's Kesar. The other brand saffron threads broke very easily and were broken in the box too. When put in water at the same time and in same quantity the other brand turned yellow within 30secs where Upakarma's Kesar took a good 10 to 20 minutes to give color and 20-30 minutes to give its full color.Do check the comparison pictures i have uploaded which has just 3 saffron threads. The whole box had an air tight wrap around.>> Though the saffron quality is good, when compared to Afghani Kesar, the color and flavor was a bit less with this Kashmiri saffron.Packaging========Packaging was very good, a small thick glass bottle with a nice box package like a jewel ring kind of box. TThe shipping was also quick. When storing Kesar make sure its kept in a cool and dark place. And should be kept in a glass container. This kesar came in a thick glass bottle which i really appreciate that.Benefits=======>> Kesar is known for its Blood purification and complexion enhancement. A must for pregnant ladies so got it for my wife.>> Can help in growth of hair, help preventing hair loss to some extent but i don't see much difference.>> Can help reducing menstrual cramps and premenstrual syndrome>> Can prevent premature ejaculation and infertility. Also increases the interest in bed.We use 2 to 4 stands per day for it's medicial property. How i use:========This Kesar gave a very nice color and aroma with boiled milk and my wife drinks it every day.My wife is expecting a baby soon and she is drinking milk with this Upakarma Kesar which is absolutely safe, essential, pure and is great for blood purification. We also used this for Briyani and gave a beautiful natural color, nice aroma and taste.?? UPDATE: Though the first batch of Kesar was very good, the second bottle which we got was very bad. Almost all the strands were broken and was giving color out quickly and looks dark red and black. I don't see Kesar being of consistent quality. Also when compared to Aghani Kesar the price is on the higher side. With my experience Wildvedic Afghani Kesar is much better and also cheaper than this one.
