Not sure if this is indeed the flavour of the African piripiri pepper but it is nevertheless tasty. It has a smoky, earthy chilli powder flavour and it is sweet. It doesn't mention that it contains celery, but I do smell that as well. However, I would recommend that you eat it as soon as you sprinkle it out of the can because both the smell and the flavour thin out quickly. This is why I don't think it works too well as a spice powder for cooking (say for example making a piripiri flavoured recipe). I have found it tasted superb when sprinkled lightly on some plain, salted chips.

I bought it because I was craving Piri Piri fries from McD. Honest review - if you use a lot of this masala on your fries, it will taste very similar to the McD's Piri Piri, but it has sweet flavour initially and then the hot & spicy flavour kicks in as after taste, which becomes difficult to handle. So I usually eat mayonnaise with it, to avoid getting digestion issues. Can buy, if you're carving McD's Piri Piri fries and can't order it, like me?? It's value for money ????
