I was looking for brown sugar to use in baking. It is supposed to be hygroscopic (attracts and retains water) for this purpose. I bought this and also from another brand which was twice the price. Trust me, the moment i opened the delivery box i sensed it wasn't up to mark, light brown and free-flowing inside the packet.. FREE FLOWING.. brown sugar is supposed to be sticky, that is the whole point. I compared with the other brown sugar and there was significant difference. as soon as i opened i packet this smelled like chemicals (huh, isnt it supposed to be organic??), whereas the other one smelled sugary similar to jaggery. Taste wise also the other one was better. But on the other hand its not bad too, the chocolate chip cookies turned out ok, wasnt exactly chewy the way i wanted them to be but acceptable.. Will have to try the same recipe from other brand to compare.. Cost wise it is a good bargain but quality can be better..
